Plot[edit]

Season 1[edit]

Identical twin brothers Aravind and Mayan (played by Senthil Kumar) were separated soon after birth when Aravind was given to a childless couple and raised in the city while Mayan remained with his family in the village. Aravind discovers he was adopted and sets out to meet his real parents and twin brother for the first time since his adoption thirty years ago. On the other side, Sandhanapaandi has two wives. He has three children – Devi, Karthik and Vidhya from his first wife Valli and a daughter – Thamarai from his second wife Parvathy.

A marriage is fixed between Aravind and Devi but Aravind is kidnapped a few days before the wedding by parvathy's brother Machakaalai and Parvathy who want to take revenge on Sandhanapandi by taking his daughter from his first marriage's groom and having the groom marry his daughter from his second marriage. Problems arise when Mayan takes the identity of Aravind and marries Devi (Raksha Holla) while Aravind is forced to marry Thamarai (Rashmi Jayraj). Thamarai is not accepted by her mother-in-law, Gowri whereas Mayan is not accepted by Devi's family. But both of them manage to make their respective spouses reciprocate their feelings.

The main cast was unable to shoot because of the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, so the season ended prematurely on 26 March 2020.

Season 2[edit]

Twin brothers Mayan and Maaran are separated by birth as their parents separate and his mother leaves their home with Maaran. Mayan hates his father, Raja Rathnam because he remarries Naachiyar. Mayan leaves the home in a fit of rage, but does not find a shelter. Later, he is found by his uncle, Rathnavel and is raised in his home for more than 25 years. There, he also falls in love with Mahalakshmi, a straightforward and righteous teacher and his cousin (Rathnavel's daughter) who dislikes him with her mother, Parvathy for his villainous behaviour while Rathnavel supports him.

Things change when, Mahalakshmi gets engaged to Surya. So, Mayan tries in many ways to stop the wedlock, but at last he is able to do so while Surya's father is in a debt of 15 lakh by playing gambling. He asks Surya whether he wants his parents or Maha, while he chooses his parents. So, Surya is forced to leave when Mayan marries Maha. Later, Mayan is elated when Maha asks about their future life. So, Mayan decides to tell the truth while Maha learns the truth by Surya a while before. She beats Mayan and blames him for her state. Mayan miserably scolds Surya for his state.

When Maha goes to tell her father the truth, Rathnavel has a heart attack. It is later revealed that he already had a heart attack at the market for the preparations of Maha's marriage, being helped by a stranger, it is revealed that he has to do an immediate surgery otherwise he would be in mortal peril, but he brushes it aside. The doctor in present asks Maha and Mayan to not reveal any shocking information to him for a year. How Mayan convinces Maha and leads a happy life with her and helps his sisters and stepmother forms the crux of the story.

Mayan's sister Gayathri is engaged to Aadhavan before Raja Rathnam dies. However, due to Muthuraj, Chithabaram and Vadivu they make Mayan look bad in front of everyone. Gayathri develops feeling for Aadhavan and vice versa. Then Mayan is blamed to stop the marriage between them however it was actually because of Muthuraj. Naachiyar then arranges a marriage between Muthuraj and Gayathri which Gaythari, Mayan and Kaththi oppose. They plan a secret marriage between Aadhavan and Gayathri but later find out that his character is bad and he agreed to marry Gayathri only for the family's wealth. Gayathri gets to know this and calls off her marriage with Aadhavan. Due to these circumstances and to save Gayathri from Muthuraj, Mayan asks Kaththi to marry Gayathri. Kaththi and Gayathri agree to this and get married as they trust Mayan completely.

The whole family arrives there and they attack the trio for their betrayal which was stopped on the arrival of the local police. Then all of them leave the place and reaches their house. Then, Nachiyar informs Gayathri that there is no relationship between them and she's no longer her daughter. Next day, the family finds out that all their jewels are missing. Love blossoms between Gayathri and Kaththi slowly. Next, Saranya sign's a blank document leading to the house documents. They later find out the house is in danger and Nachiyar is depressed. Mayan finding this out then start's worrying. They have a month to repay the 1 crores. Soon after, Masani wanting to revenge the Nachiyar family decided to seal the house and give it back only after they have paid the cash. Mayan coming to find out this is furious. Later on in the night, Mayan puts blankets on his sister's and step mum to keep them warm. It is now 1 week before the deadline and Masani comes and threatens them. The day before the deadline, Mayan raid's houses from the people who loaned them as income tax officers. Soon after, at night Mayan hand's over 1 crores from the raid's to Nachiyar. Nachiya still say's she doesn't trust Mayan. It's now the night before the deadline and Nachiya has gotten a bad dream of Masani demolishing the house. It is now the next morning. Maha's father pays off one of the debts while one of the lenders refuses to take money from the family as Saranya, one of Mayan's sisters had once saved the lender's son from an accident. There is only one debt left to be paid. Taking advantage of this, Masani provokes the last lender and almost gets the document signed by the family. Production[edit]

During a stage of production, Prabhudeva, Maheshwari and the entire crew including Sundar C had landed in South Africa. Rambha had not boarded the plane with them as planned. The unit became nervous, not knowing what to do, as the shooting time and spot that they had reserved in Sun City was getting wasted. After waiting for a long time, they went ahead and had Maheshwari put on Rambha's costumes and picturized the song with her and Prabhudeva. Rambha, who arrived two days later, got wild and furious that Sundar and company would picture the song without her. She went back to Chennai almost three days before the Naam Iruvar Namakku Iruvar unit and got ready to shoot for Kaathala Kaathala instead.

Sundar and others who were angry and disappointed with Rambha's behaviour filed complaints with film organizations. Meanwhile, more developments came about once Rambha left the film. It appeared that the director's wife, Kushboo had strongly thrown in a recommendation for Simran to grab the role that Rambha had trashed, but Meena entered the picture from somewhere, all of a sudden.[1] The fact was that Meena gave up her Kaathala Kaathala role for Rambha and Soundarya, while Rambha gave up her Na. Ir. Na. Ir role for Meena. On a side note to the entire matter, Simran announced that she gave up her chances to star in both Kaathala Kaathala and Naam Iruvar Namakku Iruvar, because she did not want to pack herself with call sheet troubles and not be able to act in that she had already committed to.[2]
